Construct a dissolution profile for 350 mg of a drug with total dissolution in 10 hours, using the following Makoid-Banakar dissolution model where n = 3/5:

(a) Find the derivative of drug_d(t) (which D-Rules do you need here?), and a formula for t_peak by setting this derivative equal to zero and solving for t.

(b) Using (a) above, solve for the values of k and c, and write out the final form of drug_d(t).

(c) Using each of the functions below, compute the percentage dissolution for each one after 5 hours. Also, accurately label the plot below with these values.


 


 

(d) Suppose the setup of the modeling situation was the same with dose = 350 mg and t_peak = 10 hours, but in addition to finding c and k, you also had to find the exponent n of t, such that 25% of the dose was dissolved when t = 2 hrs. In this case your model with unknown c, n, and k, is:
